Loved the game. Too scared to finish it though. Probably shouldn’t have first bought it as an iPhone app in the middle of the winter. It’s a game you really ought to play with the lights on.

Amazing game, although quite short. The atmosphere is great and it IS genuinely scary at times, just try playing it at night with sound on.
This game was just amazing, with a buetiful soundtrack and great graphics. Even though it scared me half to death I loved it. This is an awesome horror game if you havn’t played one before and plus I learned a think or two about the swedish folklore.
I liked this Norse mythology game and gave it four out of five stars. The graphics were haunting and beautiful, and I sometimes jumped out of my seat during some of the animations -- scary! I read a few other reviews and agree with them regarding its length; I wish it was longer. I finished it in under 5 hours with many breaks. I got stuck on a few of the quests and had to refer to the internet for some help. (EX. The Kiln!) I have still have no idea what that little box was with the rotating wheel of shapes. I finished the game without figuring that part out, so perhaps it wasnt necessary, although Im still curious about it! The post church part of the game was a bit lacking in imagination and difficulty, but prior to that segment, it was all in all very fun to play. I look forward to more games by this company/graphics team.
**Spoiler Alert!!** Gorgeous artwork, haunting music, incredible storyline, and engaging games. You need whit, cunning, focus and guts to see this game through to the very end, the REAL end. PLEASE MAKE THE GAME LONGER!! I’ve played this game over and over again, I can’t get enough. However, once you get to the Raven portion the difficulty level drops, and again, even more so with the Church Grimm. However, I love the sealed box with the shapes. That part kept me enthralled! I wish the beautiful artwork of the rest of the game was present during the knife scene. Overall, my favourite videogame EVER.
I found this game very simple and a bit boring. It was quite short as well. I didn’t think it was worth the money.
Its a great horror/puzzle game but needs serious retina display update. I have a macbook pro with retina display and when i play this game my eyes feel so uncomfortable cause this this game has sooo low resolution please fix it otherwise i will delete it. Its on the homepage of Mac App Store and doesent have retina display support. Without a retina support this game doesnt worth its money!!!!!!!! Please Fix It, Please its a great game!!!!
Illustrations, animations are beautiful. Story is wonderful and really fun to play.
What’s wrong with the kiln? I tried to press «U» and «N» and nothing happens.. is it bug or i do smth wrong?
Definitely one of the most unique games out there. Really liked the games psychological effect and sounds. It also has some interesting puzzles and the box puzzle is admittedly harder, but solvable. The drawback of the game is that it’s really short. Still, worth its money and would recomend it.
This game is truely amazing. The art, the music, and the plot. Very creative. What happens after the “ending” gives me goose bump.
I dont write reviews. This game however has earned my time for one. It brings back the eerie old world tales. Yhe ones that are raw, before Disney altered them. The graphics, the storyline, the gameplay.. Yes.
I just downloaded this game and played it for 15 minutes and gave up…. I found the side scrolling / moving around extremely annoying and the game is just not very engaging.
While its a bit short for its price, Year Walk is a gripping little tale. The world is deep and the atmosphere is haunting and memorable, almost like you are walking through a storybook of Swedish Folklore. Definately worth a try if youre looking for a good scare.
I’ve been thinking of downloading this game for my iPhone, now yay it’s here so it is possible to play on a big screen! This is an update of my Apr 03 review, when I first downloaded the game there was no sound, however when I spoke to Simigo on twitter and via email, they helped me with the issue. My Air is a mid-2012 model so sometimes problems are unavoidable. I restarted my Mac and things started to work again. Great music, nice game!
It had beautiful graphics and the story was well thought out. The game isn’t over until you unlock the journal and open the box. Whatever reviewer said there was no premise obviously didn’t play this game all the way though. It was short but amazing. I would give it more stars if i could.
I liked it! The game definitely makes you pay attention to details and the theme of swedish folklore makes it interesting. I like the fact that it isn’t too long. You can get to the end before getting bored with it.
Creepy and lovely. Will make you scream at some points if you’re easily jumpy. :) Really beautiful imagery, thoughtfully planned out storyline.. just great.
A truly amazing game in all ways. The artwork, story, and music all came together to create a haunting atmosphere and magnificent experience. The game was clearly very well researched and could even be described as a virtual ethnography. The developers are not lying when they say it “blurs the line between reality and the supernatural.” Four peices of advice: read the entire encyclopedia before beginning, try not to rely too heavily on the hints, play with headphones in a dark room, and don’t be duped by the false ending.
I am not usually one for horror themes, as I am quite skittish, but I couldn’t resist the tempation to play through this game. The side-scrolling took a minute to get used to, but the map proves very useful in helping gauge your surroundings. The music was delightfully creepy, and the simple storyline was compelling enough. I really enjoyed the encyclopedia’s historical facts. However! It was a very short game. I suppose it was cheap enough to where it isn’t upsetting, but still, quite short. That would have to be my only real complaint. Otherwise the game itself is beautifully done, and significantly creepy.
