This was one of the most saddest and shocking game I have ever played on the appstore. The storyplot and the etire future vs reality thing was amazing.

I really enjoyed this game. Great puzzles with a hint system that won’t leave you stuck. The story is developed very well. It is a bit short, but with the sale on it I feel it is a good value.
I’m trying to get this game going and the 4th baby is stuck on the windmill so I tried starting over and there is NO restart with new player???? why?? I feel Like I just lost my $$ - can someone help with this or is just a loss for me??
I liked the game, but I finished it in two hours and it’s not exactly the kind of thing you can do again… wish there was more!
can’t get past the owl puzzle on the mac, can someone help me?! somehow need to press both owls at once but can’t do it with a computer and no touch screen
Normally I avoid scary games and movies, but another reviewer convinced me I could handle this game. That was only half true. SPOILERS AHEAD. Overall the game atmosphere is dark and creepy — you’re interacting with dead babies, demons, and one really creepy, bloody, wooden doll. All of that I could handle, but there are at least 2 moments where something pops up and scares the bejeesus out of you. It reminds me of those YouTube videos where you’re supposed to watch the video carefully and then the Exorcist devil face pops up and screams at you. Those moments were horrible, horrible, unless you like that sort of thing. As far as game play, I was looking for the next Machinarium, and while it did not reach that level, it was pretty good. It has an interesting, developed story, but the endings are SO depressing. Beautiful stylized illustrations. Decent puzzles. I used the hints but more out of impatience rather than difficulty. If they used all the same mechanics/puzzles but re-branded the story of the game (as a fantasy or something less dark) I would absolutely be in love with it. NOTE: The first time you “finish” the game, watch through the end credits. There is a hidden message at the end that lets you unlock the rest of the game. The message gives you the password to unlock the journal. From there the story gets even more interesting—and it leads you to an alternate (but still dismally depressing) ending.
I’m new to this genre of game, so I don’t have a lot to compare this to, but I found Year Walk to be breathtakingly beautiful in its design and simultaneously melancholic and terrifying. What a coup! The hints are helpful but not always necessary to work your way through the story, but I do recommend that you take notes on paper as you go. You’ll be happy you did. And don’t be fooled by the ending. The end is not the end!
A lot of commenters talked about the length of the game. I wouldn’t say it’s a short game, it has a few tricky moments that can hold you back some time. In the end the story holds your interest. Definitely try it out. It’s creepy and memorable.
I seldom write reviews on paid games, mostly because they disappoint me, and I just want them to be better. But Year Walk is an incredibly intriguing game. It’s such a beautiful, dark entangle; its story is so mysterious and its graphics are exceptional. Any other environment would have made me extremely sick with the controls being what they are...but there’s a strange magic that happens with this game. I recommend it to anyone who’s a wee bit disturbed in the mind, this will be a dark & twisty treat.
